Your SCEA Negotiations Committee responded to the Sutter County Negotiators lack of authority to negotiate fully. Our primary focus is Salary Increase and the County Budget. The committee decided to appear before the Board of Supervisors at the 7/24/2018 Supervisors' meeting since we are the ones at the table. And recognizing the difficulty members would have getting the time off to attend in support of our committee we did not post openly the call for members to attend but we tried person to person or hushed notice to avoid Admin or the Board knowing our plan. Our goal was to inform the Board of negotiations progress and demand the Board give their Reps the authority to negotiate fairly and fully. Currently the County response is any salary or monetary gains the employees are to provide offsets or savings for the county. We had approximately 24 members show up. Union t-shirts worn, signs demanding fair contract held up for Board and others to see. Three speakers on behalf of our union presented their facts and info and did a very good job; Allyson Wadkins, Pete Jensen, and Ron Slaven. THANK YOU SPEAKERS AND ATTENDEES.
Our next Negotiations meeting with the County is July 30th. The Board meeting video is available online, county website, and I encourage you to view it for our speakers' information and the Board's response at the end.
